How to Reduce Parenting Stress
Stress is the root of all diseases.
Even healthy people can develop physical and mental problems and even illness when they are under a lot of stress.
Parents have a duty to raise their children well until they become adults.
Therefore, the health of parents is bound to be passed on to their children.
For example, if parents are stressed and cause problems such as irritating or swearing at their children, the children who receive the stress are bound to have emotional and physical problems.
In other words, the reality is that the water upstream must be clean for the water downstream to be clean.
1. Sufficient sleep
- The most difficult and basic thing to do is sleep.
Especially for young children, they need a lot of time to feed and help, so parents who raise them are likely to be very tired.
I am also raising two children, and the thing they need the most is sleep.
If you don't get enough sleep, you may experience various problems such as decreased concentration, decreased cognitive function, decreased immunity, decreased libido, decreased emotional control, increased depression, and increased weight.
This can be solved by reaching an agreement with your wife/husband to set a sleeping time, asking for help from others (parents, acquaintances, siblings, etc.), or entrusting it to an institution (daycare, kindergarten, etc.).
2. Sufficient nutrition supply
- First of all, by consuming a variety of foods (especially lactic acid bacteria, fiber, etc.), you can relieve stress related to bowel movements by simply not having constipation or diarrhea.
Carbohydrates obtained from grains, etc. have a positive effect on reducing fatigue and increasing concentration.
Protein and amino acids obtained from meat, etc. have a positive effect on your own neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin, etc.).
Omega-3 obtained from fish or nuts has effects on cognitive function, memory, and learning ability.
Vitamins, iron, magnesium, and other minerals obtained from vegetables/fruits are effective for fatigue, immunity, etc.
Sufficient water intake is also necessary for headache reduction and fatigue reduction, and can be supplemented with fruits or water.
In this way, various foods are good for health and are essential nutrients for children.
And I think that chewing food itself is good because it suppresses stress and gives a sense of happiness and fullness.
Both children and parents can reduce stress by eating a variety of foods, maintain a healthy body, and have a happy mealtime and talk together, which will have a positive effect on everyone.
3. Personal hobbies
- It is also a good idea to try your own hobbies, such as reading or exercising, little by little.
Of course, this method requires compromise between the couple and discuss how much time each person can get.
Since each person wants different things, I cannot tell you what to do.
I relieve stress by reading books and writing like this.
Since I don't have time to read books, I listen to books on my way to work using e-books.
When you read many books, there comes a moment of realization, and that joy also relieves the stress that has built up.
And as I write like this, I organize my thoughts and hope that someone will be helped by my writing.
Everyone has different goals and ideals, and I believe that if you get to know yourself and gradually reduce your stress, you will find parenting fun and see your life become richer.
I always cheer for parents who are having a hard time raising their children.
