Classic Feynman(Feynman, Richard Phillips)

 1. If you can, do it.

When we say to ourselves, "I can do it, I just don't want to.", this may be a different way of saying that I can't actually do it.

I think that the phrase "I can, but I don't want to." is a defense mechanism used by people who don't know themselves well or who overestimate their abilities. As the saying goes, "Empty carts make the most noise," there are people who talk a lot and make excuses but don't actually get results. I hope that my children, including myself, will become people who show by action if they can do something, rather than people like this. Feynman, who appears in the book, always showed everything through action. Of course, many geniuses, CEOs, and all outstanding people have shown the public something through action. Some people criticize Elon Musk, but he is not just a person who talks, as he has created almost perfect autonomous driving, built robots, and even returned a spaceship. The CEOs of outstanding companies in Korea (Hyundai, Samsung, etc.) have also shown that we can do it. If you can do it, you should do it yourself and show the results. I think that results that are just words are just a passing thought.

2. Everything is possible because we are alive.

We learn how to live hard today despite the fact that we will die someday. Since we already accept death as a given, we laugh and joke around and live.

I will never see the year 2100. That will probably be the future that my child will see. Of course, it may not be. An accident could happen tomorrow, and many other things could happen. However, we must live hard today. All humans die, and we all live a limited life that we do not know when it will be. Since we already know that, I think we should be happy while we are alive. I think it would be a waste of the remaining life to have only things like fighting, hating, and despising. If you fill your life with laughter, jokes, love, happy times, and a growing life, won't you have less regrets when you leave this world? It's up to you what you fill your life with. You can do all of that now that you're alive.

3. Whether you're great or not, everyone is human.

"Remember the name of the little guy behind you. He's the only one who doesn't fear me. So if my idea is wrong, he'll tell you the right thing. Next time you have to discuss an idea, you don't need people who only say, "Yes, that's right, Dr. Bohr." It's best to call that guy first and talk to him."

The most addictive word for politicians is "Mr. **Congressman." When you wear this outer shell (politician), everyone treats you like a VIP. The shiny gold badge is a contract employee (4 years) who shows that you're so great. But the people around you are so caught up in all this that they think you're just an amazing person. And they always think they're right. But when that contract ends, they return to being nothing. That's why they want to continue to serve indefinitely and continue to hold onto their power. Celebrities, professors, and businessmen are all human. They just look different depending on their outer shell. It's said that Feynman talked about physics without hesitation, no matter who the person was. Even though that person was Einstein. I think that in order to do real work, you shouldn't be swayed by others' positions. You should improve the parts that you simply admire, feel ashamed of, and unconditionally believe are right. In other words, you shouldn't look at the shell, but look at the facts.

4. Proper education is understanding.

I came to the conclusion that students memorized everything, but they didn't know what it meant.

When Feynman taught at a Brazilian school, he said that when students asked him about something theoretically, he answered well, but when he asked them to give practical examples, no one could answer. I think that the Brazilian education at that time was very similar to the Korean education today. Most Koreans, including me, have been learning English for more than 10 years. However, there are few who can properly speak with foreigners. I think this is spoon-fed education. I think that the reason why people know theoretical knowledge but cannot use it in practice is because they do not understand it. I think that since they do not understand, they cannot apply it. I think that true education is understanding some theory. I hope that it becomes education that allows them to understand, not education that is for getting grades.

◎ Additional book review

All miracles are stories made up to make people understand 'more realistically', so I came to accept the theory that it's okay if they don't match natural phenomena, and as a result, my confusion was easily resolved. On the other hand, I was very interested in nature and didn't want nature to be distorted in this way, so I gradually came to distrust religion as a whole.

I also don't believe in religion. My opinion on religion is that it can't be believed because there is no evidence. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old, and dinosaurs ruled the Earth hundreds of millions of years ago, and they exist as fossils. Did God really exist back then? However, there is not a single word about dinosaurs in the Bible. It is also unknown whether gods, which didn't exist hundreds of millions of years ago, came into existence when humans emerged, and what is more unclear than dinosaurs is that only Noah's family survived in Noah's Ark, so our ancestor must have been Noah. However, I don't think whites, blacks, or yellow people can be explained. As such, it is difficult for me to believe in science now and believe that the things I cannot understand are simply because God did them. Of course, science may be wrong. In the past, we thought the Earth was flat. However, we are finding the right answer again, and I believe that we will gradually learn the truth as time goes by.

Of course, you only live one life, make mistakes, and learn what not to do. That is your goal.

This phrase also matches my life goal. Humans fall down countless times to walk and run, and they become able to walk properly. In order to speak properly, they make mistakes such as babbling and pronouncing words and sentences, and they become accurate. In order to drive properly, they sweat and get nervous, and they make many mistakes to become the best driver. Humans should continue to make mistakes, reflect on them, and improve. I think that is my goal and the goal of all humans. No one can do well from the beginning. You have to realize and get used to failures in order to do well.

If you create a theory, you must explain both the good and bad points of the theory at the same time.

I think that everything has its pros and cons, and that you should always think about them. Just as not everything I think can be right, and not everything others think can be right, you need to continuously learn, confirm, and know both the pros and cons of something in order to prepare for it, think about it, and understand it. I think that we should always understand it in order to find a good answer. If you simply think that someone made it, did it this way, and that you should do it this way, you will end up living a life without progress. You need to know that there is always a darker shadow behind too bright a light.
